Disability Services (DS) Guidelines for Accessible Book Accommodations

Cengage Unlimited Subscription:
Cengage books are digital web books that are already accessible with a built in reader(audio) therefore, no need for you to buy a more expensive printed textbook(s) or request E-text. You may request E-text to be downloaded to a USB drive, word or PDF format or other accessible formats.

The bookstore staff will be happy to guide you on what type of book(s) your course(s) will be using.

Please read over the following guidelines before requesting E-text.

Documentation was submitted and approved

  • I submitted proper documentation and have a Student Accommodation Plan on file with NTC's Disability Services (DS).
  • I was approved to receive E-Text as an accommodation.

Requests should be submitted 2 weeks in advance

  • I understand it is my responsibility to submit an E-Text Request Form at least 2 weeks prior to class start date.

Original Book receipt/s required

  • I will purchase a printed version of the textbook/s or Cengage Unlimited Subscription and show DS staff the original receipt, as required by the publisher. I realize a copy/scan/fax of the original receipt is NOT acceptable.
  • I understand I can continue to complete this form prior to purchasing the textbook(s). Receipt will be required later and before I can receive my E-text.
  • I will retain the original receipt and the printed version of the book for the entire course period to abide by the publisher's requirements.
  • I understand that the publisher does NOT accept third party receipts as proof of purchase.

The E-Text is NTC property

  • USB Drive: I will return the USB Drive as soon as the course is completed, dropped or by the end of the semester, whichever comes first.
  • Word, PDF Attachments or other accessible formats: The E-Text I received as a Word, PDF attachment or other format will be deleted as soon as the course is completed, dropped or by the end of the semester, whichever comes first.
